Ontario Providing Free Training for Electricians

This week, Premier Ford and Minister McNaughton announced that our government is investing $2.7 million to support an innovative project to help 65 electrical workers upgrade their skills and help meet the demand for qualified electricians in eastern Ontario.

Workers will have the chance to participate in more than 8,000 hours of hands-on training focused on:

  • Learning technical skills and abilities
  • Health and safety
  • Professional development
  • Other critical industry skills

Led by KE Electrical, this free program will provide participants with the training needed to progress from labourers to apprentices, apprentices to journeymen, and journeymen to foremen so they can earn more take-home pay for themselves and their families and help tackle the critical shortage of skilled trades workers the province faces.
