Ontario Investing in Laurencrest Youth Services Inc.

Community Service Order Program to connect individuals to community service work in eastern Ontario.

NEWS

Cornwall — The Ontario government is investing $537,619.50 in Laurencrest Youth Services through the 2024-27 Community Service Order (CSO) Program. This program connects individuals with organizations in Ontario that provide opportunities for people to complete court-mandated community service work.

“Investing in organizations like Laurencrest Youth Services is crucial for fostering resilience and growth within our communities,” said MPP Nolan Quinn. “By supporting innovative programs through the CSO initiative, we are empowering individuals to turn their lives around and contribute positively to society. This funding not only promotes personal development but also strengthens our communities as a whole.”

The intent of the CSO program is to deliver people-centred, innovative and inclusive programming to reduce the likelihood of reoffending and increase client self-awareness. The program also includes wrap-around support like training, skills development, job placement at non-profit agencies, and referrals to short-term counselling.

“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is proud to fund community-led and innovative programs to help individuals on parole or probation build a brighter future,” said Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “Through CSO, there’s an opportunity for people to make positive changes and develop the skills they need to succeed.”

Over the next three years, the Ontario government is investing over $4 million to assist 11 community-based organizations that support those on probation and parole.

“We are truly thankful for our collaboration with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, which has graciously extended our contract to support the Community Service Order (CSO) program until 2027,” said Megan Laroche, Executive Director of Laurencrest Youth Services. “Through this valuable partnership, we look forward to providing high-quality community-based service opportunities that help our community members fulfill court-mandated service work.”
