Cornwall, ON — The Ontario Government is protecting critical community infrastructure
by investing $200,000 to transform the Cornwall Curling Club. This funding provided
through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will equip the Club to further establish itself as
a regional hub for community activities and venue for world-class curling competitions.
“Whether its family events, recreational leagues or competitions, the Cornwall Curling
Club is a pillar of community in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry,” said Nolan Quinn,
MPP of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “This investment from our government will
allow the Club to expand and modernize their world-class facility so people from across
Eastern Ontario can continue to gather, compete, and make incredible memories right in
the heart of our community.”
Over the next year, the Cornwall Curling Club will modernize its space to expand the
facility’s lifespan so the club to continue hosting events and welcome curlers and guests
from Eastern Ontario and around the world. The Cornwall Curling Club will be hosting
the renowned Shorty Jenkins Curling Bonspiel, with opening ceremonies starting on
September 10th.
“The Cornwall Curling Club is a hub for both competitive and social curling, and this
investment ensures we can continue to welcome curlers of all ages and backgrounds
for generations to come,” said Robert Mahon, President of the Cornwall Curling Club.
“With the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we’re not only preserving our 20-
year-old facility, but also creating new opportunities through strategic renovations,
equipment upgrades, and outreach initiatives to attract new curlers and volunteers.”
