Province’s $200k grant building new sports court & rink in Finch, promoting healthy lifestyles in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.

FINCH— Through a $200k investment from the Ontario Government, the Township of North Stormont is building a new sports court and rink in Finch’s DC Vollrath Park. This investment will increase access to engaging community sports in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.

“Whether it’s playing in a league or with friends, we know that sports brings SDSG together,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “With the support from our government, this new sport court and rink will ensure that everyone in SDSG can stay active and connected to the community all year round.”

The project funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation includes an 80’ x 120’ cement pad with special tiles for basketball, pickleball, and ball hockey, plus safety boards around the edge. In winter, the court will be flooded for ice hockey. The new sports space will be open year-round for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

“We’re grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting this project. Thanks to their grant, we can offer a new space for sports and recreation that brings our community together and helps everyone stay active,” said François Landry, Mayor of the Township of North Stormont.
