Ontario Expanding Critical Programs at the Cornwall Community Hospital
$234K will support additional CT scan hours and their Assault and Sexual Abuse Program
NEWS
CORNWALL- The Ontario government is investing $234,750 in the Cornwall Community Hospital to support access to high-quality health care in Eastern Ontario. This funding will increase the operation capacity of services offered at the Cornwall Community Hospital including diagnostic, sexual assault and domestic violence services, providing excellent care, close to home.
“Our government is ensuring that Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry residents have access to timely and effective, whenever they may need it,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “This critical investment will not only reduce diagnostic wait times for our community but will also enable the Cornwall Community Hospital to continue providing well-rounded, specialized care.”
The Cornwall Community Hospital is receiving $138,750 to increase the operating hours of their CT machine, connecting 555 more residents to scans. This funding is part of a $23.7 million investment to add 95,000 operating hours at CT machines across Ontario, expediting diagnoses for nearly 100,000 people.
The hospital is also receiving $96,000 to support their Assault and Sexual Abuse Program. This funding will be used to hire a clinical nurse team leader, strengthening the expertise of the services being offered to survivors in the Cornwall community. This support is part of a $9.4 million investment made by the Ontario government to enhance and expand services at the 14 existing Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centres across the province.
“This funding will help Cornwall Community Hospital expand CT scan hours, reduce wait times, and improve access to timely diagnostic imaging, which is critical for faster diagnoses and enhanced outcomes,” said Jeanette Despatie, President and CEO of Cornwall Community Hospital. “It also strengthens our Assault and Sexual Abuse Program, allowing us to provide specialized, compassionate care to individuals experiencing trauma. These investments align with our Strategic Plan and will make a meaningful difference for patients across our region. We’re grateful to Minister Quinn and the Government of Ontario for their continued support.”
Building on a record setting investment of $85B last year, the Ontario government continues to take decisive action to support connected, convenient health care for every community in Ontario.
