Cornwall — The Ontario Government is taking action to reduce wait times and expand access to critical health-care services by investing over $1.8 million in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry’s healthcare system. This funding will ensure faster access to diagnostic imaging, quicker answers for patients, and more timely treatment.

“Every day, our hospitals provide life-saving and compassionate care when it matters most,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “Through this investment, our government is ensuring that families in our community have faster, more reliable access to the care they need to live healthy, happy lives.”

As part of this investment, the Cornwall Community Hospital will receive $701,500 and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital will receive $59,250 to increase Computed Tomography (CT) scan capacity, ensuring patients have access to timely diagnostic imaging closer to home. This funding is part of the government’s $81 million investment to add 324,000 CT scan hours at 86 hospitals across the province in 2025–26.

In addition, the Cornwall Community Hospital will receive $961,200 and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital will receive $134,900 support more surgeries and reduce surgical backlogs. This funding is part of the government’s $100 million investment for hospitals to complete additional procedures, including neurosurgeries, orthopedic surgeries, gynecologic surgeries, cataract surgeries, hernia surgeries, and pediatric surgeries, among others in 2025–26.

“This funding directly supports Cornwall Community Hospital’s 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, particularly our focus on Recovery by enhancing access to care, strengthening operational excellence, and expanding our diagnostic capacity,” said Jeanette Despatie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cornwall Community Hospital. “By increasing surgical activity and CT imaging hours, we are improving timely access to care for local patients while supporting a more integrated and sustainable health system. We are grateful to the Ontario government and MPP Nolan Quinn for this important investment in our community.”

“Thank you to the government for the funding to enable WDMH to provide more services to our patients” said Cholly Boland, Chief Executive Officer of Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

These investments are the government’s latest steps in fulfilling Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, the plan to modernize Ontario’s health-care system, expand access to critical services, and ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time.
