MPP Nolan Quinn Awards the King Charles III Coronation Medal to Local Recipients

Five residents receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their exceptional contributions to the community.

St. Andrew’s West- MPP Nolan Quinn awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal to five residents of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry for their significant efforts to improve the lives of residents in the community, Ontario and all of Canada.

“It has never been more important than now to stand strong and support Stormont-Dundas- South Glengarry, Ontario and all of Canada,” said Nolan Quinn, MPP of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “Our community is a better place because of the incredible contributions made by our recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal, and I commend their dedication to serving our community.”

Below are the recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry:

Jody Archambault (Cornwall): Jody Archambault is a dedicated volunteer and community leader who actively participates in events like the Santa Claus Parade Breakfast with Santa. He has held leadership roles in local organizations and has received multiple awards, including Kinsmen of the Year and the Canada 150 Volunteer Award.

Peggy Haramis (Williamstown): Peggy Haramis has supported numerous charitable organizations, including the United Way, Williamstown Fair Board and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. She has also contributed to causes like childhood cancer research and the Heart & Stroke Foundation while actively participating in her church’s ministries.

Rockerick (Rod) McLeod (Cornwall): Rod McLeod, a retired educator, spent 30 years with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and helped lead the Gifted and Talented Planning Committee. As a devoted community leader, he has contributed to local organizations and sports, earning honours like the 2011 Citizen of the Year Award and induction into the Cornwall Flag Football Hall of Fame.

Jehan Shorish (Cornwall): Jehan Shorish is a longtime mentor, entrepreneur      and community advocate who co-founded Cornwall’s first bubble tea shop, Sip & Scoop. Through her business, she has raised funds for the Akwesasne community, supported those in need with free meals, and launched initiatives like a prepaid meal wall and Sip Cash to help fight food insecurity.

Bill Smirle (Morewood): Bill Smirle has made significant contributions to various local initiatives, including the 4-H Dairy Club, Morewood Fire Department and the development of community sports facilities. His leadership in fundraising efforts for Winchester Hospital and Dundas Manor, coupled with his service in Christ Church United, has earned him honours such as the Queen Elizabeth II Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals.
